What is Gossip?
You know, I was thinking...when is talking about someone gossip? Are you able to talk about someone and say something negative without it being gossip?
Or do you have to always say something positive?
I have a number of friends who get mad at someone and they need to vent; something about women...we need to vent. But when does it become gossip? I need to search the scriptures because it seems like people who talk about others also seem to be negative in general.
What do you think?

If the person who is the subject finds out that you told and is upset, then it's gossip.
If you're not sure and are afraid to ask the subject person, then it's gossip.
My opinion

It sounds like you have an experience you are worried a bit about. I think a gossip is someone that cannot keep a secret. But if it is something that is bothering that person, they should be able to express their thoughts about only to to able to cultivate a correct course of action. The key is to find a person in which to discuss matters that won't in any way spread your concerns. I've found that people just LOVE to talk.
Ron,
That sounds like pretty good advice. I agree.
Lynne,
The only thing is...are the people we are confiding in giving us an excuse to gossip? I need to look up what gossip means in the greek, maybe that will give me some more insight.
Thanks for the comment
I think that if you don't have the balls to say something to someone's face, you shouldn't say it to someone elses.
I try not to say something about someone else that I wouldn't say to their face....it's hard!
Yvonne,
I agree. I find it hard to say something to someone's face so I guess I should zip it up elsewhere.
