With Sammie nearing the end of her first year at school and Eliana only one week away from the momentus one year old, I decided to take some pictures. Instead of spending $200 at the local photographer (we could get away with only $60 but we love so many), I thought I would save some money and make my own. I know I'll get better as the years go on, but I think these turned out pretty good. Any advice from my photographic family? I tried a backdrop with Sammie's pictures-I think it was a little too shiny....
Happy Anniversary to the best in-laws ever!!! You have been wonderful to me ever since I first met you. I know you have inspired many people to search after God and that is the most important thing you could give to others. You truly are amazing!
As part of the homeschool group, one of the moms organized a field day for the kids. It was great fun for all of them. They played tug of war, balancing games, bubble blowing all lots of others. Here Sammie thought she would let the boys do most of the pulling. They did eventually win when Sammie decided to help. Here they had to use team work to cross the finish line on the cardboard. So they all had to get on the cardboard and transfer the piece behind them to the front.
Today, we're planning on going to the Acorn Festival. It's sooo fun to get out with Paul and the girls and explore. They will have free rides and it's free to get in. You can't beat that!!! We are trying to find something relatively close though, because gas jumped up 40 cents to $3.28/gallon. I have never seen it so high. This morning I decided to go for a 2 mile walk rather than get in the car and go to the coffee shop. I just don't want to waste the gas.
Sammie feels like Cinderella (at the ball) in this dress. She received this dress and a bunch of other 'hand me down' clothes from Sydney! Always a bonus. Eliana is wearing an outfit I picked up last year. She hates wearing the little bandana, but I thought it looked sooo cute. The look on her face after finally "tearing" the bandana off her head is priceless. I can see the look means, "Ha! Look Mom, I got it off all by myself and there's nothing you can do about it."
Sammie is the background playing with her pollies (polly pockets) on her shelf. This is the only place she can play with them in her room. Otherwise, they will become Eliana's appetizers. I am amazed to see how long her hair is.
I officially stopped nursing yesterday! I always have two sets of emotions-excitement that it's over, Eliana is growing up, and I have more freedom; sadness that I will not have that close down time where she just looks up at me and lays in my arms.
One thing the Lord has been doing in my life is teaching me contentment. For the longest time, my favorite channel was the home and garden channel. All those extravagant houses, $100,000 home improvements and back yards that look like they belong at a resort. I found myself wanting all that stuff. Then I read in the scripture about lust. No, not the sexual kind, but the kind that makes you want to have what others have. Paul and I were reading through the witnesses of Jesus: Peter, James, Jude, John. We found that they referred to the subject of lust, but in a way that made me think about riches. About how they condemn the rich. My thinking started to change. I started to think about how contentment....
....and then I started to feel contentment. Contentment with our home, contentment with my 1993 Bonneville, contentment with my appearance, with our yard, with my stuff.
I think this whole idea of acquiring more and more; the "keeping up with the Jones's" mentality, it can really take away something that God wants us all the have, contentment.
A quick shot of the love birds! Why Grama, what big eyes you have. I love them this way...quiet! Taken in December at a restaurant. The three girls.
I have said for a long time that Paul is successful at whatever he does. I believe he is just one of those people who can do anything he puts his mind to. Photography is no exception. He takes the best pictures, even with the little camera in his cell phone. Can I brag on him for a minute...he also picks out the best clothes for me. I can buy a dress, come home and realize I shouldn't have bought it. Paul, on the other hand, picks out clothes for me and they look great. They end up being my most loved outfits. He is also wonderful at computers, hense his success in the computer business; shall I keep going....
Eliana wanted to get past Paul to me. So instead of going around, she thought she would just try to make it over. A stop to grab Daddy's nose. "It seems like his mouth is a good place to balance myself." "I'm almost there. I think I can.... I think I can...." "Finally, this is what I wanted."
I have this blog mostly because of my sister-in-law, Yvonne. She has had her blog forever...well, in blog history. This blog's purpose, I would say is to keep my family and friends up-to-date on the latest pictures and experiences of our lives. With this digital age, there are so many pictures, that sometimes they get lost on disks and the computer. This helps to keep them where they belong, in the memories of those we love.
I am passionate about God, my husband Paul, my daughters Sammie and Eliana and worship music; especially vineyard, passion and other comparable music. I love singing and playing the piano which I basically taught myself with the help of my immensely talented husband, my sister-in-law, Yvonne (who is also extremely talented) and the Lord. I like listening to Joyce Meyer and watching sappy movies that make me cry.
If you were to hang around me long enough, you would find that I am not picky, I am very easy going and I pretty much go with the flow. I require just a few things to make my life enjoyable: an occasional trip to the salon, time with my girlfriends and snuggles by my husband.
My husband is Amazing! I had to find him in another country because there were no good ones here for me. I also am completely convinced that God picked out one specific man for me and he was in Canada. Paul is romantic, always thinking of how he can please me and very passionate about God. He is a true family man, wanting rather to spend time at home with us than go out with his friends. My husband does not compromise with his faith. He lives his life by the bible and the leading of the Holy Spirit. I am thankful for Paul and I hope I say it enough to him. We have been married since Jan. 1993
My First Daughter
Samantha was born August 17, 2001. She is very energetic, imaginative, intelligent and social. Sammie is homeschooled and doing extremely well, reading about a book each day. Sammie plays very well by herself because she was an only child for almost 5 years. She loves to sing and is practicing harmonizing with Paul and myself. When Sammie grows up, she wants to be an animal groomer. I hope that whatever she does, Sammie will seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
My Second Daughter
Eliana was born June 4, 2006. She is definitely her own person! She is very determined and loves to make us laugh. She is strong willed and very inquisitive. From the time Eliana was very young, she has been the comedian in the family (just like her Daddy). I enjoy tremendously having Eliana.
My First Son
Nicolas was born February 13, 2009. He is laid back, a true 3rd born child. Nico smiles easily, even strangers can get him to smile, which always makes the elder ladies in the store very happy.
