Back from the Beach
So I just got back from the outer banks in NC. I haven't been out there since Paul and I took a drive up the coast back in 1994!My Uncle and Aunt from Indiana invited Paul, Sammie and I out there for a couple days but Paul felt it was best to stay and work. So Sammie and I had a 5 hour trip out there on Tuesday.
With all the new sights to look at and the fast highway (75 mph/120kph) the time just flew by.
We did a lot of great stuff down on the outer banks: watched the wild horses
climbed the currituck lighthouse (Sammie climbed all 214 steps). As for walking down the steps, well that was another story. We took some beautiful pictures at the top, and boy was it windy!
We also went shopping but I was proud of myself for only spending a little over $100 (including gas) for the whole trip. I sure have gotten cheap over the years.
What was really nice about the trip, was getting to know my Uncle and Aunt. This is my dad's oldest brother and he is so different from my dad! Uncle Lawrence is a laid-back kind of guy, who doesn't like to go out to eat, but does like to talk about anything and everything!
He is a christian so I could kind of let down my guard and just be myself.
He gave me a call after we got back home and said that my Aunt told him that was the best family vacation she can ever remember! I hope she has a long memory.
